Stress Relief During the COVID-19 Pandemic

For most, this past summer has been like no other.

COVID-19 put a rapid halt to college courses, festivals, concerts, sports among many other events. And as many students across the country return to campus this fall, they’re experiencing an entirely new look at on-campus life. Despite the challenges this year has brought, it’s still important for students to get involved in fun events and activities, while still taking the necessary precautions for safety.

In fact, it may be more important than ever for students to take a break and have some fun to help cope with the stressors and challenges this year has brought.

Smash has been a hit this Fall at Universities across the country because we’re able to provide an exciting and unique event that prioritizes the safety of students and allows them to take a break, let loose and get a little social time in between classes.

Smash is a COVID-19 safe event that takes several important precautions to keep contact at a minimum. Every participant gets their own brand new full face shield, a new marker and a new plate to break. There is no sharing or touching surfaces of any kind during the event, which makes this the ideal experience for students and faculty. Each participant takes their turn to write down their stressors on their plate and break it, while wearing a fully covered face shield. Smash arrives on campus with a rage room specialist who handles tent set up, sterilization, safety supplies, a waiver and stuff to smash.

Universities like Grand Valley State University, Saint Thomas More University, Bryant University have incorporated Smash in the past months to kick off the school year with a fun main attraction on campus.

Students came to the event excited to destress and get some anger relief by hurling plates as hard as they can into the Smash tent. The university’s campus activities social media accounts typically posted about the event a few days in advance to help get the word out. On event day, asking passerbys if they “Wanna break a plate?” was more than enough to peak interest and draw a socially distanced crowd at the Smash tent. Students caught the action on camera and posted their videos and Boomerangs on social to share, many even hopped back in line to throw a few more plates before heading on their way.

University Campus Activities Board’s have been doing whatever it takes to host fun and safe events and activities for students to enjoy as they head back to school this year. Finals week is right around the corner and Smash has been a HUGE hit on campus during arguably the most stressful weeks for students.

Spots are already booking up for Finals week so book now to reserve a COVID-19 safe Smash event at your school.
